Al LaPorta Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 So first off I would like to say this is not my first car audio system I have had dozens of systems and my last build was 2 xxx 15s in my GTI with a huge custom ported box that me and my buddy threw together.. with a hifonics brutus 2400 rms watt amp 7 cube box and a unknown port tune it cracked my windshield in about a week and flexed my hatch almost an inch.. I loved every single second of it. Fast forward 3 years and 2 cars later i now drive a 2006 audi a4, I would really like to get another serious system but with the sedan its tight trunk opening is ~ 17"x36.5", actual trunk size 18" high, 39" wide, 41" deep, I know that is really pushing it for 2 xxx 15s in a ported box, im looking to crush the lows like my last xxx build. amp is another cheap hifonics but this time i want to try the zeus 3100 rms watt... im almost wondering if i would be louder running 1 15 and throwing the biggest box i can in there... thanks in advance guys! Al

Al lmao that's how all boxes should be build
Al LaPorta Posted July 21, 2015 Author Report Posted July 21, 2015 i guess what im asking is with the dimensions I gave you guys would I be louder with 1 15 and a nice big box or 2 cramped 15s and more cone surface area
Triticum Agricolam Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Based on the dimensions you gave you have plenty of room for two 15"s. You may need to build the box in your trunk to take advantage of that space though. Joe X Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Build inside and you will have no problems of space if you don't want build a cardboard dummy box to see what is the most that will fit from the trunk opening or from the backseats.
Al LaPorta Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Posted July 22, 2015 what exactly do you guys mean by build inside?
Triticum Agricolam Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 what exactly do you guys mean by build inside? We mean exactly what it sounds like, put the box together inside the trunk vs building it outside the vehicle and then putting the completed box in. A lot of trunk cars have relatively large areas inside the trunk, but the opening to the trunk is small. Building the box inside the trunk can get around this, though its not much fun to do and then you have to take the box apart if you ever want to get it out. Joe X Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 You can still try to get the box in by removing the backseats, if not then you do what you need to do, in most cases it's worthwhile doing despite the disadvantages.

Al LaPorta Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Posted July 22, 2015 ahhh gotchya didnt think it would be something that obvious haha, anyone have any past experiences for a 2006 audi a4? thinking about picking up the hifonics brx 3000 watt rms amp, my last XXX 15s really did well on the brutus 2400 rms watt amp
