Do I need a 4-channel amp?

Hey guys, so I just got a new car and am starting to do a stereo build in it. I haven't decided for sure yet what I am going to do but I was curious about a couple things. First off, this isn't my first build. I've done some smaller builds for friends and myself. I was wondering about 4-channel amps. I'm looking at a mono amp that will push about 750 watts rms. Do I need a 4-channel amp? Or will a decent deck be enough power for the door speaker set up? Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks

it depends, a 4 channel can be used to power your door speaker, so can a 2 channel amp. you can also use the mono amp if you don't care about stereo, unless you get 2 mono amps one runs the left side and the other runs the right. a 4 channel could be great choice if you want to power tweeters and mids separately on the same amp. you can also use the deck power but might not be as good as using amps.... depends on your preferences and equipment

The amount of channels you require depends on the amount of speakers you intend to run and at what impedance, also will it be a component set? Or coaxial speakers? If components, do you intend to actively crossover your filter points, or use the passive crossovers that come with them?

Just a couple questions to start you off on your decision if you decide to buy an amplifier for your door speakers. For 750w, head unit power would be ok I think, but I personally think head units hi-level speaker outputs sound kind of muddy, and prefer mo powaaa

I agree with reedal. HU power will probably suffice, but SQ will not be as good as with an amp. A 50x4 will really wake up your mids and highs, provided you're not intending to run factory speakers.
