CamEnglish Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Iam new to box building so i need help with this. I will be using 2 hds3 12s @ 1ohm on a crescendo bc 2000. I want it to be loud and i like decaf type music. What sealed volume and ported volume should i use? Also how do i make a port? Ive heard that it needs to be 14-16 sq inches of port area. Is this right? I need somebody to bounce questions off of not somebody to tell me i dont know what im so i should stop. Thanks. 2009 Chevy 2500HD 6" Lift 35" Nittos 22"x13" Fuel Kranks Pioneer App Radio 3 Alpine 500x5 Memphis PRX 1.1000 Memphis Mojo5 12" Red Oracle Halos
CleanSierra Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 I assume you're talking about 4th order bandpass correct? The standard rule of thumb of 14-16" of port per got does not apply to bandpass enclosures. It's a shitty rule of thumb to begin with. A couple of those 12s, I'd shoot for around 100-120" of port for your area. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CamEnglish Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 Ok thanks does anybody know what volumes i need? ive also heard that it is common to have 2:1 ratio. What would be best for lower tuning? 2009 Chevy 2500HD 6" Lift 35" Nittos 22"x13" Fuel Kranks Pioneer App Radio 3 Alpine 500x5 Memphis PRX 1.1000 Memphis Mojo5 12" Red Oracle Halos
CamEnglish Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 do you mean like a 10"x10" inch? Is that not big for 2 12s? 2009 Chevy 2500HD 6" Lift 35" Nittos 22"x13" Fuel Kranks Pioneer App Radio 3 Alpine 500x5 Memphis PRX 1.1000 Memphis Mojo5 12" Red Oracle Halos
CleanSierra Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Ratios also don't mean dick when dealing with 4th order bandpass enclosures. Why are you wanting to build a 4th order bandpass box? No, 100" for 2 12s is not too much in a 4th BP box. Do you have any idea what you should be tuning to? Do you know how a bandpass enclosure works? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
