mayday187 Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Looking to build a box for four Lanzar Opti1522d subs. here are the spec for the subs in question http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll162/tahoe201/speaker%20specs/Screenshot%202015-09-12%2015.26.52_zpsjvtp5xhv.png. The box is going in a 01 Tahoe max dimension are 48.25 wide, 32.25 deep, and 19.50 tall. sub firing up port towards tailgate. just want to know if the box i worked out on Torres box cal on the right track. here's the pic of Torres box i worked up http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll162/tahoe201/speaker%20specs/Screenshot%202015-09-12%2016.05.08_zpsi9mihvft.png. One thing i was not sure of was how to inter my sub displacement. It was not listed by manufacturer, so i used an online tool to find an estimate. It was 0.17 so i multiplied by four and put 68 . or should i have rounded of and used .2 and entered .8 for the four subs. Any help offered in working this out is greatly appreciated thanks.
Joe X Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Port should be 16.75" tall if you are doing a double layer baffle, also check sub upwards.
mayday187 Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Thanks for your reply Joe X. My bad about the measurements. Wanted the sub facing up. What would you recommend. And is the sub displacement ok?
mayday187 Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 made recommended changes to Torres want to know if the box design seems sound. ">http://http://s288.photobucket.com/user/tahoe201/media/speaker%20specs/Screenshot%202015-09-13%2017.23.40_zpsyhb3mvei.png.html'>
Joe X Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 Looks reasonable, if anything I would question the higher tuning which may result in a 50Hz or so peak but that's a matter of taste I guess.
mayday187 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Report Posted September 15, 2015 I saw that in winisd, but no changes i made seem to make much difference. what's needs to be done to bring that peak over in the thirties?
mayday187 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Report Posted September 15, 2015 Made mod's to box got tune down. but don't know if that rear port velocity is ok. ">http://http://s288.photobucket.com/user/tahoe201/media/speaker%20specs/Screenshot%202015-09-14%2023.35.34_zpspf0kyxzi.png.html'>
mayday187 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Report Posted September 15, 2015 The EBP for this sub scores a 25.33 which suggest a sealed enclosure. FS/QES = EBP , 30/1.184=25.33. Is it possible that's why it peaks above the tuned frequency. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
mayday187 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Report Posted September 15, 2015 This is the sealed box i came up with. any thoughts or recommendations. ">http://http://s288.photobucket.com/user/tahoe201/media/speaker%20specs/Screenshot%202015-09-15%2014.03.09_zpsvtqzkdp0.png.html'>

Just because a sub has a low EBP doesn't mean you have to put it in a sealed box, but it does indicate ported performance might not be ideal. Generally low EBP subs will have a peak in output above tuning like you are seeing.
