exact lengths

33.37 for a square port @34hz

28.17 for a slot port @34hz

unless you measure your cuts with digital caliper's go with these measurements

square port of 33.25" is 34.05hz

slot port of 28" is 34.03hz

the amount away from 34hz will be negligible

I used this web calculator

I hadnt realized that a square port needs to be longer than a slot port. Care to explain? Id think the square would be more efficient and require less length.

You are correct in that a square port is more efficient than a slot port of equal area, however efficiency has nothing to do with tuning frequency. Since slot ports usually share common walls with the rest of the box, this makes them perform like they are longer than the really are, and thus they can be slightly shorter.
