ja9219
Hi, So I'm a total noob compared to probably everyone here when it comes to car audio. But I've slowly been setting up my system and I have a question. I have this pioneer amp which does two channels http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uUKy3LI15VU/p_130GMD8601/Pioneer-GM-D8601.html and two rockford fosgate p3d412 the older model http://www.crutchfield.com/S-CE99P8d2Vnz/p_575P3D412/Rockford-Fosgate-P3D412.html. So my question was is can I run one channel on my amp and parallel these subs so they play at one ohm. Or because it's a two channel amp can I run both at 2 ohms and each have them playing around 500 watts. Thank you and sorry If this is a stupid question or if it's been answered before
islandpride684
that's a 1 channel amp, has two inputs for ease of wiring, it's internally wired in parallel, you can wire each sub in parallel @ 2 ohms and wire each sub to each channel for a final load of 1 ohm or wire both subs to 1 ohm and just wire to one channel of the amp....each sub will see about 400 since the amp says it does 800 @ 1ohm... firebirdude
I used to sell that amp. It is indeed 1 ohm stable... and heads up.... I think it's underrated too. It's a little beast for the price. I sold it for $179 and it can be had for $139 from Sonic. I really don't think you could get more clean power out of any other amp for under $139. That said, ensure the gain is set properly. Please google how to do it with a multimeter or take it to a shop. Cranking that gain would likely smoke two old P3s in no time. ja9219
Thanks for the heads up! I left the gain at normal for now, I haven't really cranked them that much. I plan on setting it this weekend when I have more time.
MrSkippyJ
Don't use a multi meter to set the gain. Use an I scope or DD-1. Bob Tzimenatos
I have that same amp. Agree with the above-1 ohm stable and underrated. It's a great little amp. I'm running it at 2 ohms and it powers a Solobaric S12L5 in a ported box.
