Hi all, i have a big question for you guys, Should i change my acid battery for a AGM battery ?

First at all, im french, so i guess im not bilinguel. Well, im a student for car mechanic and in my class its a big issues, even the teacher dont know this answer, can i change my acid battery for a AGM battery.

I have a dodge Dart 2014, 2.4L

-2x alpine type r, 3000w peak 1000rms ea

-Hifonic Brutus 2400.1 amp

-Kinetik HC2000

-Original alternator, give me 120-130amp.

Well, in this site i've linked at the end, it said this

'' As with all gelled and sealed units, AGM batteries are sensitive to overcharging. These batteries can be charged to 2.40V/cell (and higher) without problem; however, the float charge should be reduced to between 2.25 and 2.30V/cell (summer temperatures may require lower voltages). Automotive charging systems for flooded lead acid often have a fixed float voltage setting of 14.40V (2.40V/cell), and a direct replacement with a sealed unit could spell trouble by exposing the battery to undue overcharge on a long drive. ''

That's means if my car have an original acid battery, my alt give me for 14.40V, so if i'm changing this for an kinetik HC2000, who's need a 13.5 - 13.8V i will have a lot of problem ?

I have the kinetik battery since 2 weeks in my car and every things is fine, but my teacher always tell me its a question of time before i'll burn my battery or my alt, or both.

The only things i know, i need to charg my battery every 2 weeks with an intelligent charger to make sure is always full.

What to you think guys ?

Not a fan of kinetik batteries as they have a bad reputation of blowing up like a balloon and dying an early death.

To change the acid battery for an agm is a personal choice as your battery is fairly new and not going to die anytime soon, so you could keep it for the time being and add the other agm batteries to a battery bank to up your capacity.

i have 2 kinetik hc2400 since 2011 and have not ballooned i have 5 D3100 and they ballooned a bit but are now back to normal after they cooled down... its all user error and all AGM will balloon if overcharged and are over heated

The point is not really to look if Kinetik is a good produce or not xD Im asking for the recharging system, how he can take this. i've look in a " battery expert " and the sellers told me even if you're charging a AGM at 14.4 - 14.8V " In a car with a alternator " it doenst care, it will take it without problem.

But on the site i found, it said it will overcharge the battery and kill it a little bit every time.
