StarCaptain Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 So I finished wiring my new system in and was doing some testing make sure everything was working good and working together. 93 Ford Bronco 240 amp alt, 650 CCA battery under the hood, 65 AH and 95 AH batteries in the back. 2/0 CCI cable from front to rear and big 3 upgrade. 2500 RMS amp. I'm getting 240+ amps out of the alt. I have a fuse under the hood and in the back at the amp. For some reason I am losing a little over .5 volts across the rear ANL fuse. Have used 2 different fuses from 2 different manufacturers, same results. I checked to make sure it wasnt the termials, they are good. Less than .02 loss along the cables. The holder looks similar to this one. Any ideas or is this just a junk fuse style of fuse holder.
MotorCityFats13 Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 cheap fuses have thin traces.... if you bought one of the awesome $1 ebay anl fuses you can drill out the rivets and look how thick the trace is.... there are quite a few vids on youtube compairing fuses... but I use the cheap ebay 100amp fuses and I dont get any drops from the fuse alone but your electrical is night and day when compaired to mine.... unless I am playing heavy bass the voltage at my amp at rest is the same as at my battery and what my PCM is reading on the OBDII..... now of coarse when playing a 40hz tone drops are to be expected.... the holder should not change anything they are basically generic holders with someones name printed on them "I use the SHCA holder"... simply plastic with bolts in them
Tarball Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 On your fuse holder do you have your ring terminal in direct contact with your fuse ?? StarCaptain Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 Yeah the ring terminals are directly on top of the fuse.
Tarball Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Maybe its a bad solder joint or crimp ? Just grasping at straws here... StarCaptain Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 Yeah I've been doing the same thing. So fat all my crimps test fine. No loss, or so little as to make no difference. I may try an AMG fuse and see what happens.
Tarball Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 swap your front and rear fuse holders and test CURRENT SYSTEM: Alternator: Stock alt on mids/highs Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v Batteries: (2) XS D1400s Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks Headunit: 80-PRS Sub Amp: DC 5.0k Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal.
