Anyone dynoed or clamped a Hifonics BRX3016?

It's official. Box rise is depressing.

First off, I hooked up the dd-1 again and again, says the signal is clean with my current deck and gain settings at my maximum listening volume.

Anyways, played around a bit with my new clamp meter..

On music:

Calculated 1756w peak @ 2.3ohms (long bass notes in Airforces).

Amp is rated for 2k @ 2ohm.. Not far off spec.

I noticed while playing around that my port is rattling so I've got some work to do on the box soon.

Box rise sucks... But oh well.

With my box being tuned @ 30hz, is there anyway to determine what frequency box rise would be at its lowest besides time and test tones?

There is no such thing as "box rise", its just impedance and that's what it does.

If your box is really tuned to 30 hz (don't be surprised if it off a bit, many boxes are and it usually not a big deal), that should be the point that impedance is the lowest. The impedance will rise gradually as you get away from your tuning frequency.

If you want a quick way to verify your tuning frequency you can play test tones and look for the spot where your cones move the least and cone movement increase as you increase or decrease the tone frequency from that point. FYI, using a tone generator app that lets you change the frequency of the tone is a lot easier than just playing something like a test tone CD that just has fixed tones as different tracks. If you have an iPhone I use one call Signal Gen, its free and works well.

Yes I called it "box rise" as that's what I've heard it called.

I know that impedance is what is rising.

I may play around with a tone generator. I'm not overly concerned about it... Just tinkering a bit.

It is nice to know that the amp isn't too far off of its rated power.
