I am new to the sub box building firstly. I have a 2003 dodge ram quad cab. I plan to put the box just sitting in the back seat. My sub is a kicker compS 15 4ohm. Kicker website says minimum space is 3 cubic feet and max is 4 cubic feet. Also says it's capable of 25-500hz. I would like to know any recommendations on a good box to build and the specifics on what would sound best for my truck. I listen to rap/hip hop mostly. I just want to have a good bump while driving. If any additional information is needed just let me know.

What ever you do, please don't just sit it on the seat. The box will need to be secured as in bolted down. In the event of an accident, the box will be a projectile. I know of someone who rolled his jeep and the box hit him in the head. He walked half way down the road to a house and died right there.

Boxes just sitting in the back seat is a really bad idea. If you get in an accident that thing can fly forward and kill you, or your passenger. Just don't do it.

As an alternative, if you have a 40/60 bench seat, you can flip up one side and put the box on the floor.

The only reason i walked away from this with only a small cut on my finger was because 1, i was wearing my seatbelt and 2, because all my gear was bolted down. Don't just set your box on the back seat, it's too dangerous. We can't predict when things will go tits up, best we can do is prepare for the worst.

Don't trust a shop but you personally just smoked two decks, makes sense.

Wow. I never considered that lol. Would a 15 fit between the front seats and have enough air space? I can remove the middle section on the front seat. Just from looks it seems about 2 feet wide.

Here is what I was talking about for a good way to do a behind-the-seat box. This box is for a 12", but a 15" may work too depending on your space:

Your best bet might be to build a box that fits under the back seat. A single 15 with 4 cubic feet could easily end up over 5 cubic feet total when you figure in the port volume. You might be able to remove the seat bottom and upholster the top so it is the seat. Triticum might be able to expand on this.
