DUAL PORT WITH IRREGULAR PLACEMENT

Can i or rather should i place one port in the front and the other out of the back? Then should i seal off the rest of the trunk space so that the port out of the back is now ported into a chamber making it 6th order i believe. The front port would still be into the cabin. should i keep the same tuning frequencies between the ports or would i have an opportunity to customize my tuning for a wider less peaky response. It would be easier not to turn it into a bandpass so that would be my plan the reason for the 2 ports is for more port area because i don't have enough area on the face of the box where the subs are mounted.

not sure why that matters when talking about port placement but grand am, ct sounds 7k, havent decided on subs, 8 cu ft give or take depending on the subs I choose 15's if I can figure out how to get proper port area.

The loudest trunk setup would be subs and ports back. Close to the rear so they can all load off the back of the trunk. When you put ports or subs in different directions, you will get cancellation from the reflected wave that comes from the back wall of the trunk. The most practical way to get enough port area would be a slot port and both subs in a single chamber to keep port length reasonable.

The loudest trunks are actually port and subs firing forward with everything pushed back into the trunk as deep as possible...but that's kinda besides the point.

BMS, I don't suggest your original idea with ports facing different directions. It's not going to help your low port area, will likely induce some cancellation and will not work as a 6th like you are expecting.

Honestly, you are way better off and will be louder if you decide to drop down to 12s and are able to get proper port area. Could always do a single 15 with proper port as well and still be louder than 2 with small ports facing different directions.
