sniperlif3 Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 I am planning on upgrading my power wire from my alternator to battery to 1/0 gauge. There is already wire from the stock setup that runs from the alternator to a bunch of fuses in a block and then to the battery. Would there be any problem with running both the 1/0 gauge and the stock (I think its 8 or 4 gauge). I know people talk about electricity going the path of least resistance, I just want to make sure doing this would not have any problems The other option I have is remove the stock cable that runs from the alternator to the block with the fuses, and leave the power wire that runs from the battery to the block.
Karkov Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Personally, I would leave stock wiring alone and just add to it for your stereo needs. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. DrewJones Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Just leave all stock wiring, whether is be power or ground. More wire, as long as it's not corroded, is better. sniperlif3 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Report Posted April 19, 2016 Sweet. Thankful to hear, I was fairly positive that was the case but wanted to be sure. Also makes my job tons easier as the stock battery location and fuse block is in the trunk in a hard to reach area. Stupid Skylines. Thank you for the help!
