04 Tahoe. Do I need to bypass Bose Amp?

So i've been looking around to getting a new headunit for my 04 tahoe. the one problem i've been noticing is that if you have the bose audio system then you will have problems when putting in an aftermarket headunit.

I guess that if you just wire an aftermarket straight to the oem wires then your speakers will basically be doubled the amplified power and have distortion and that the only way to fix this is to also buy a special adapter for the bose amp.

Does anyone knows if this is true? do i really have to dish out extra cash to replace my headunit or is there something else I can do?

If you have bose you will need a special harness, unless you hook up an amp to the door speakers. My tahoe is an 04 and it didn't have bose

thats pretty shitty, so i guess im gunna have to drop another $80 for one of those PAC adapters. hopefully it will be worth it

This is just me, I liked my bose sound better than my kenwood with no amp

I have an 04 as well i installed a new Pioneer AVH3800 with the expensive ass harness. The harness works well but the door buzzer is annoying as hell.

dont need a special expensive harness unless you want to keep the door chime and rap shut down. if you dont care about the chime/rap then there is a bypass plug right behind the radio slightly below acutally. its a normal gm harness i believe. you will need to run acc but thats it.
