Went active and now it sounds like AM radio

Infinity kappa 6.5 components

RF punch 400.4

I was originally running passive with two sets of components on my 4 channel. Sounded crystal clear. While my car was apart, I decided to remove my rear components and go active with my fronts.

My headunit has an active feature with EQ, time alignment, crossovers and individual speaker level adjustment.

Mids high passed at 80hz,

Mids low passed at 3.5Khz

Tweeters low passed at 3.5Khz

All slopes are -12db

My mids and highs sound like AM radio. What would be a good starting point for the crossovers?

I have a set of fosgate T2 components on the way and wanted to get some experience going active before I installed my new speakers.

Thank you for the help.

Well...if your mids are actually "low passed at 80hz" and "high passed at 3.5k" then thats why you are getting no performance. You have it backwards. Your mids should be high passed at 80hz and low passed at 3.5k.

Start bring down your eq settings one at a time more in the middle and right side.

Bringing down the middle and right sides made it sound worse, only muddy mid range.

No more passive crossovers. Thought I would clean up wiring by getting rid of them but it seems like it's causing more trouble than it's worth.

I did double check polarity and even reversed it just to hear the difference. All is correct.

Maybe the pioneers active feature doesn't sound so great?
