Carnines Posted June 11, 2016 Report Posted June 11, 2016 Been doing some research on the best ways to retain sound quality. CD's are one of the best ways to play music without losing sound. Cd's are not an efficient way of playing/storing music, so I am interested in getting an iPod. After doing some research, the classic 5.5 gen iPod seems to have the best sound quality out of all other generations of iPods. Should I buy a refurbished 5.5 gen, or this a better option for storing music while retaining good sound quality? Would be better to use an USB and use the search function on my PRS 80 (which isn't installed yet)?

Carnines Posted June 11, 2016 Author Report Posted June 11, 2016 What's the quality like on decaf/ djsnt files if you know by any chance?
ericholmes408 Posted June 11, 2016 Report Posted June 11, 2016 Use a flash drive. Increase the bit rate at which you import your music. The bit rate of an average cd is about 125. If you increase the bit rate to around 190 to 200 when you import the music file you will greatly improve the sound quality.with a pioneer I wouldn't go higher than 190. If you don't get any sound it means that the bit rate is too high for your head unit to read. Higher bit rates will give you twice the sound at half the volume. Keep in mind cheaper units won't process high bit rates. If you dub your own music play around with the bit rate when you import the files. Trust me. It works! This will also give you tons of storage...good luck.
