fracl
I'm trying to set the Maximum Unclipped Volume level on my deck,(Kenwood DDX 319) using my SMD DD-1. All settings are flat,The volume goes up to 35, signal light comes on at 29, 40hz light comes on at 30, 1kHz light at 31.I keep turning the Volume slowly all the way to 35 and everytime i go up 1 notch, the Distortion light blinks once then goes out. it does that for 31,32,33,34, and 35 but never stays on solid. am i doing something wrong? or does it mean i can turn my volume up to 35? the car is running idle, i tried with the car off same thing. I'm a bit confused by this, I thought I'd be able to finally find the max Volume on my Deck. now where do i put the volume before i set my amps gain? thanks
RooTxBeeR
Only time it means is detecting distortion is when the light stay a solid red. If it blinKS and goes away you are good. Just make sure you tune with the car off. So I can turn the volume all the way up to 35 without distortion? that's good. what about when i setup my Sub amp gain (Symphony S1500.1). where should i set the sub-woofer level on the Deck. and what about the bass boost on the amp, when should I set it at? I read that the bass boost knob should be set half way to give me room to go up or down how does that sound. I will make sure the car is off. RooTxBeeR
As long as the distortion light isn't solid, yes it can be set to that. Subwoofer level, have that set to max, that way you make your amp put out the same power but doesn't work as hard. As far as bass boost, never use it, ever. For your knob, check whether or not it is a bass boost controller, or a gain controller. Never ever use bass boost. islandpride684
The DDX series doesn't have one, so set it to max 35 and set your gains.... Alright, so the max Volume on the DDX, is the max volume on the DDX. that's good As far as the bass boost goes, on the amp there is a "bass boost" labeled gain that goes from 0 to 18db so its a bass boost. so you're saying i should turn that gain on the amp to 0. and never use the bass knob? what if you listen to some songs that have too much bass for your liking? or you put one on that has good bass and you want to feel it a bit more? I thought that the purpose of a bass boost knob was for that? also on the deck, if I go to Xover and subwoofer, there is a level that goes from -50 all the way to +10. so this one i'll leave at +10. Jessica
I would leave a sub out on the head unit alone unless you verify it dosent distort at max level. I would just leave it alone altogether. If your headunit ever lose memory are you going to remember where you had it set? Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. fracl
I would leave the bass boost alone ok so, turn the Bass Boost gain to "0" on the amp and not use the bass boost knob.. is this what you meant?
