yea but that means your alternator charges your battery, then goes back to the alternator for power, then sends the power to your amp? where as, you can hook it up to your battery, so then it goes from your alternator to your battery to your amp and saves you some loss in current.

Actually, your battery is not touched until the voltage is dropped to around 12.5 V (when your alternator cannot keep up). So your battery acts like a capacitor between your alt. and amp...with the exception that it can produce its own current.

i wouldn't even worry about fusing he wire from the battery to alt.

and if u short out and ur battery blows up, then what? its called cya (cover your ass).
