Tuning A Rounded Port?

Recommended Posts

Rounded like the end of an aero port or rounded like PVC round. Bass Box Pro allows the use of flushed or rounded port ends that is the program I go with when designing a box.

or use the end correction factor:

The effective length of the port is found by adding an end correction factor. An end correction factor is necesary because more often than not, one wall of the port is also one wall of the enclosure and this wall extends beyond the end of the port thus effectively adding length to the port (remember, the driver can't "see" the length of the port, it can only go by what it "feels" is going on).

Calculating end factor may sound like it would be more trouble than it's worth, but it's actually quite simple. To calculate end correction factor, simply add one-half the width of slot port to the length of the port (directly down the middle).

so if you have a port 3" wide x 17" long, u would need to subtract 1.5" from 17" to find the actual tuning of enclosure, or what the sub "feels/sees"

so if 17" long = 33hz tuning, but ur using a slot port, you would only need to make it 15.5" long since the sub thinks the port extends beyond the 14" an extra 1.5"
