I'll have to do some more experimenting, haven't been able to get into the green yet.

I've read the 12-16in area / foot for slotted isn't a real accurate thing to build by, but if i'm up in the 20's is that also not a good thing either?

basing that on the thought that more area = slower speed

Yeah port area per cube guildlines don't always work out because they don't account for input power or tuning frequency, which have a big impact on how much port area you need. There is nothing wrong with 20 sq in per cube, but with that much port area its going to take a long port to get the tuning frequency down where you want and that can be tough to deal with.

You are correct, more port area = lower port velocity.
