Need help with box :/

So I'm pretty new to box building and need advice and answers if anyone is willing to help. I just bought 2 sundown X 10 V1's and wanna build a ported L box. I wanna use MDF wood. I want a 1.5" thick baffle and .75" thick wood everywhere else. I will also be using epoxy resin on the inside to make it smooth. I've been using "Torres" box calc to figure my box out but I'm confused.. I drive a Volkswagen hatchback so heres my questions.....

1) My trunk dimensions are 19.5H 40W 29.5D and that's borderline. First question.. For a hatchback do I want subs on top and port in front facing hatch or both subs and port in front?

2) Using Torres... I calculated I need like 28" of port length to acheive my tune of 31hz.. If my box is only gonna be roughly 24in deep do I add the length of the L shape port into the tune? Meaning if my port is 18 deep and 10 across that's my total?

3) is a 3 inch port too small for these sundown x 10's? I found they need 24^2in of port area each that's 48 between the two.. I'm trying to not hear any port noise at all..

4) How far into the box do I begin to make my L? I read it should be the port width size is how much space the L needs from the back wall

5) if anyone can post a Torres or win isd print of what they think would be loudest as far as tuning and dimensions I would be great full!!!!!

Also forgot... How do I figure out how much space my box will have inside if my baffle is double the size? I figured it would be 1.5+.75+.75+.75/4= .94" total thickness...???

No, you can use Torres to figure out your net volume.

Sundown recommend 1.5 cu ft of net volume per sub, you have TONS of space.

How much port area you need depends on how much power you are running. Sundown's recommendation of 24 sq in per sub is good if you are going to be running RMS power. If you are going to be running more than that, more port area would be a good idea.

Assuming you are going to run close to RMS power, here is a Torres screen shot of a box that should work well:

I reduced the depth to 20" and the height to 14".

Coating the inside of the box with resin doesn't accomplish much, it doesn't hurt so do it if you want to, but its not worth the time/cost IMHO.

Thanks for the help man! I don't think the port height is correct is it?? Wouldn't 14-1.5 (.75 top and bottom) be 12.5?

Since this is going in a hatchback you probably want subs up, port back. Since the baffle should be double thickness (1.5") 14 - 1.5 - .75 = 11.75"

One quick question then. How far is the L port suppose to be away from the wall on the L bend. 4.375 also?

Yes, you want to maintain a 4-3/8" port width the entire length of the port.

To get the port 40" long, you want to measure down the centerline of the port.

A port that shares a side with the enclosure? One half port width as along the wall belongs to the port. so basically it extends the port. Not a bad thing if you take it into account. Triticum is spot on you are in good hands.
