8zouci8 Posted November 22, 2016 Report Posted November 22, 2016 I just recently got a Hifonics Brutus Elite 2500.1D as a present. I am having issues trying to wire up my two 12" Apline SWR - D2's. They are the 2 Ohm DVC. I am trying to figure out how to wire them properly without causing damage to my amp. I have one sub jumping (-) to (+) then of the opposite coil. Then other 2 leads jumping to (-) (-) and (+) (+) to the other sub. That sub also (-) to (+) and the other 2 leads going to the box terminals. Which reads around 2.4 Ohms at the box terminals. But When I set my leads on the amp side It reads 1.4 Ohms. Is there a reason it's not reading 2 Ohms instead? I want to run at 2 ohms instead of 4 ohms. Or is something going wrong? I originally wanted to run the amp at 1 ohm but I know the 2 ohm DVC's can't go to 1 ohm it jumps to 0.5 ohms and the amp is not stable at 0.5 ohms. Could someone please explain the problem I am having if any?

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.

I have it wired like that and it reads 2.4 ohms at the last woofer but amp terminal reads 1.4 Ohms is that of any significance? Also that is how I have it set up.
reedal Posted November 22, 2016 Report Posted November 22, 2016 you're not going to read an exact 2ohm, as the resistance will vary with the environment the sub is in. as for why you're reading 1.4 at the amp, you have the wires connected to the amp while you're checking it right? so you're now also reading the amp's resistance on the speaker outputs as part of the circuit. Just play it. you're fine.
