I have had this bronco for about 5 years now.  I have done alot to it.  Rebuild the engine, new transmission. Upgraded all the wiring.  Upgraded alternator. Upgraded steering. It drives like a brand new truck now.  It just looks like an old beater on the outside.  Im still working on the inside.  I have been out of work for a year but I finally start working again next week so I will be able to get back on the project.

The vehicle

I used All Solder on terminals

Upgraded to a 130 amp alternator for V1.  it wont be near enough for V2.

Interior Prep

I pulled everything out, pressure washed it all down till it was nice and clean, the ground off all the surface rust, then laid down 3 heavy coats of Rustoleum spray on bedliner.  Its not the thick stuff like most, its more like paint but with a heavy surface texture, perfect for step 2.

Ventillation is highly advised as well as a respirator, that stuff has serious fumes.

Step 2 - 150 sq ft of Rattle Trap XXX.  I love this stuff, its really thick, and no where near as expensive as the top name stuff.

Amazing how long this takes when you do a Decent job of it.

The stock speakers in the back were 5x7's so I had to modify the speaker cages to fit the 6x9's.  worked out pretty good.

All wired up.  Damn I could have done a much better job of that.

I hate theives.  Bastards did a midnight snatch and grab on me.  Broke the shit out of my Drivers seat in the process.  Retards didnt even know how to operate a damn seat.  I thought my factory alarm worked, always had in the past, but guess it decided to crap out some time.

So After repairing all the damage.  Getting a new set of seats.  I took assessment of what I had and what I wanted it to be and started thinking about V2.  There was alot about the first system I really liked.  The JBL's were pretty damn great for inexpensive speakers.  The door speakers not so much, but the 6x9's kick ass and take some punishment.  So with that.... on to V2.

V2 is about to get underway.  I have already started collecting parts.

The plan is in multiple stages.

Stage 1 - Upgrade Power (Again)

Starting off with a Mechman 240amp alternator.

1/0 Cables

Dual Battery system - Still planning

So far I was thinking about a D3400 for the audio and a Northstar NSB-AGM-34/78 for a cranking battery.  That may change.

Ruff stuff Dual battery tray.  SMD Fuse Block Under the hood, and another in the back.

Dual 1/0 Power cables run from the engine bay to the rear Distribution/Fuse Block.

Hifonics BRX1616.4 400wx4 amp for mid/highs powering 4 JBL P963's and 2 JBL P663's

I am seriously considering trashing the door speakers because you cant even tell they are on, and to balance them against the 6x9's cuts too much volume.  Maybe with the new Full range amp, I will be able to adjust them better by running them on their own channel, and the 6x9's on a separate channel.  I will give this a shot, and if it dont work out, I am considering a set of JL ZR650-CS i components to replace them.  Hopefully they will balance out better than the JBL's.

For the low end,

Im not cheaping out this time.

Sundown Audio SVC-2000D powering a Fi Q15 Neo in a custom Box.

All of the power cables will use solder on terminals, shrink wrapped nicely going into SMD ANL Fuse Blocks

Dual 1/0 Amp feeds From the SMD ANL Dual Fuse Block under the hood back to the rear of the vehicle then going into a SMD Distribution Block. (10 feet total run, should be good for 14.2 volts nominal on the Distribution block)

1/0 From Distribution block to another SMD Dual Fuse Block, only one side this time then to a Stinger 1/0-#4 adapters to plug into the Hifonics amp.

Then another 1/0 From Distribution Block to the other side of the SMD Dual ANL Fuse Block and off to the Subdown SVC-2000D

So far I have the Hifonics amp and the second set of P963's

IMAG11671.jpg

Which are going in boxes

IMAG1182.jpg

I also have a New Crimestopper security system (they wont get me twice) They will feel the teeth of my Dog on their ass if they try.

IMAG1211.jpg

So slowly but surely, I will get there over the next 2 or 3 months.  I cant wait to get it all running.  It completely SUCKS having no subs.  At least the full range system wasnt stolen.

I spent a couple of hours today putting together a shopping list for the project.

Damn, I forgot how much this stuff adds up to when you do quality work.

Oh well, its only money right, only live once, and everyday your "shorter of breath and one day closer to death."

And Im 51 years of age, I deserve it.

$4000 to finish it out.  Yep thats gonna take a few months.  I have to remember to keep my wife out of my bank account for the next 6 months.
