I would like to open a shop just to build custom enclosures. I wouldn't mind offering better equipment at a cheaper price, but so many people think they're really taking advantage of their equipment with a 50hz tuned prefab enclosure.

To me building really really nice boxes would be better than pushing any one brand of equipment. If you sit there and say to some one "no, DD will be better than your JL", how are you any different than any other shop that pushes equipment on you?

Plus if they carried nothing but BTLs, Lvl 5s, and 5200s where would they really make their profit? Most people want stuff they can afford, and thats often where shop owners can make profit too (Like selling tons of cheap equipment over that one lucky big sale).

no no about the exterior mods and lambo doors, this is coming from someone who just cannot compete with you therefore they just automatically talk BS.

Someone may have a "variety" of knowledge but not this dude i heard all the circle talk from.

Yea stores carry BS brands, people shell out cash, store is happy cause they made 300% profit, person is happy until they blow out their subs or their shit gets jacked.

And yea stuff people can afford, how can you charge like Gold Bar prices on such generic/common equipment when you can subtract like $100-200 and get some true high end stuff. Like would you pay $475 for a 450w amp(yes thats a price tag i saw)? AHHHH nooooo cause you can snag yourself at least a quad digit amp(1000w+) for around that price. My total value of my system and everything(wiring,alt,bat etc included also) is like a bit over a grand(not showing off just stating facts) if i were to go to any store in the area and try to buy subs/amps and the rest of the materials itd cost me well over $3000. Thats all im hollering at, Screw brand wars and this item is better cause whatever reason, its just the pricing to performance ratio im making a logic of. $179 for a 4 gauge amp kit? $200 for a 1.5 farad cap? Highway robbery? Not even close, pricing like I see is a whole new level of rip off, similar to that of like gas prices. Id rather sleep with the enemy and breech homeland security then pay ridiculous prices for stuff people boast with BS.

Im sure someone will step in and talk about profit/economy side of this whole ordeal yea but shit.....

Well there have always been and will always be people/companys preying on the uneducated and taking them/getting over on them for way more than it "should" cost...but if the those folks knew what it "should" cost they wouldn't be paying it unless they have $$ to just throw away and who does?

Same goes for buying audio parts/having it installed as it does for mechanical repairs and repair parts.

Some folks "know what parts REALLY cost" and are only willing to pay that as well as the labor to fix a car or install audio gear.

Knowledge is power.

EVERYONE should be getting educated, but very few are, therefore these practices of raping folks on parts prices and install labor will continue.

The most YOU or I can do, is NOT pay those prices, and educate as many as possible on the matter.

Build a setup as you have described-WITH KNOW-HOW, and smart shopping...then you can go to that shop and crush his demo Car/Truck/Van with 1/2 or less the $$$ in gear.

But you can't save em all bro.

Gotta just let it go at some point, or it'll make ya crazy.
