Bigwheelw
I recently got a kicker ZX s1500.1 on a trade. It was a really good deal....had it worked. I found out when I got home and hooked it up that it wouldn't play music. I rechecked everything and it was set up right. I hooked a DMM to the speaker terminals on the amp and it reads 17v with no RCA cables plugged in. It sounds like a MOSFET clicking on and off fast really quietly. Any ideas. Nothing appears burnt

ShadeTreeMechanic
Sounds like an output FET is shorted. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
Bigwheelw
I just replaced a bunch of burnt fets and resistors in a different amp that were burnt and got it working. Good at soldering components, not so good at diagnosis. I will have to look and see if I can find a short anywhere. Nothing appears to be burnt inside. I will go over it with a fine toothed comb. neuspeedescort
buddy of mine had one of the kx models in the 1200 watt. it popped one day at low voltage. he had it repaired and it popped again with in a few days back. rumor has it once they go they don't like repairs much. not sure how that is. maybe crappy boards i dunno. i'm no expert but i hope you can get yours running because those amps do every bit of their rated power. Bigwheelw
Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a try just for the hell of it. If it doesn't work I'm only out a few bucks. I hope the 1500 is different than the 1200 lol
