P3D4-12" box help

I basically have no experience with systems and want to make sure i get the best sound out of what i have. I have a single P3D4 going into the back of a Mazda 3 hatchback. Trunk dimensions are 29x40x17. Just looking for one or two possible ported box options. I listen to mostly rap/hip hop and classic rock and this will be a daily driver application. I'm not trying to set off car alarms or give someone a migraine just looking for a good amount of thump while I cruise. I have an idea of how big it needs to be but was hoping to have a little more input on tuning frequency and a 'blueprint' of the box. I dont fully understand port length and how to decide how big it needs to be. I plan on building it out of 3/4" birch with a slot port. Had no luck with Google sketch up and couldn't find any straight forward answers so I came here lol.

Any comments concerns or cries of out rage would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Brandon

So here is a suggestion could be used sub / port firing back or up, power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 2", figure is just an assembly guide:

NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.
