Can the older model DC5K amp strap with the newer white stripe DC5K amp?

I'm currently in the process of planning for future upgrades and was wondering if my old DC5K could strap with the newer white stripe model. I heard the internals on the newer models were a bit different?

DC Audio - Singer Alternators - Knukonceptz - XS Power - Hybrid Audio - Rockford Fosgate - Second Skin Audio - SMD - Sundown Audio - Elemental Designs

Talked to rusty he said he doesn't suggest it. Some I'm just running 1 5k per 3 subs
