Here is an 8 that I built off an ORIGINAL TypeR motor... which are really rare. Most people are familiar with the Gen2 and Gen3 motors... but, the original were hand built, and not very popular.

In case u couldnt tell... I love building 8's. These have single nomex spiders and woven tinsels with non-pressed pulp cones, and Genesis "Honeycomb" style dustcaps.

Here, I was busy mocking up motors and builds... when I realized I had all 3 of the best motors Alpine made... turning into 8's.

Another of my Alpine based builds... This one I call the "Baby TypeR"

Even though Alpine built an 8" TypeR sub... it was never a great sub. Nothing compared to this one... :-)

I started out, with the initial build... and, as usual... I push my subs WAAY too hard, so I can tear them up and figure out their weaknesses... and, build them stronger.

And, here we have figured out the limit of the excursion capabilities of the spiders I used... LOL 

So, a rebuild was in order... and, I figured I'd try a new cap style, to go with the red stitches...

And, after beating the brakes off the build on THIS one... I decided to try some new techniques, and turn it into a strictly SQ style sub... here's the result of THAT change

As always... Munchkin approved!!! :-)

Yes. The Ironman sub was a "Generic" motor. Worked out great! I actually think it has been one of the best SOUNDING subs I've built so far.... of course, box design and build has a lot to do with that.

BTW---If you're referring to the "Ultra" motors... those are actually really good too. Brought in by a reputable importer based out of California. I buy TONS of my materials from them.

BTW thelordofbass has good speaker parts. My subs are built using there raw parts.

Yup, "LordOfBass" is just "Ultra" rebranded. exact same. same owner. same suppliers. Great people. I've been dealing with them for years now.
