Kelz619
I was reading online a guy bought a sub that was too big for the box so he used a spacer ring so it'll fit. I get that part. Does a spacer ring do anything else? Does it change the displacement of sub and make the internal volume bigger? For example this box has 2 cub. feet after displacement and now 2.2 with a spacer ring?
Triticum Agricolam
Its going to increase the box volume, but its going to be by a very small amount. Just how much depends on the dimensions of the spacer ring, but its going to be a small enough change that it will be inconsequential. Charles Phillips
By lifting the sub up with a spacer ring, you gain a tiny amount of box volume. Probably nothing lifechanging unless it's in a bandpass in which case it might screw the ratio up. - 2009 Toyota Matrix Base - - iPad 64GB - - miniDSP 2x4 HD - - PPI Art a200.2 - - SoundQubed SQ-2200.2 x 2 -
Jessica
chances are, if the sub wont fit in the box, a spacer ring is not the answer. Other than that, it's a ring of wood, what are you expecting it to do, add 10 dB? Kyblack76
Also, im lost on "it was too big to fit, so he used a spacer"..... Id think if it was to large, you would be removing material, unless it was to LONG, and needed to be lifted off the baffle to not hit the rear wall or some shiz...... Normally, its to fit a smaller dim driver, into a larger cut out.... im lost errrrrrywhere....
