Subs should be arriving Monday. In the meantime I would like to know if I should sealed the box or keep it ported as is.I want really tight bass. I also want these FI subs to work at the best with the rest of my set up.

What do you experts recommand?

Ported, but keep the net volume of the box on the low end of the spectrum.

Please explain. Im just learning all this and this was the 1st time ibe delt with a custom box.

Sloppy bass can often come from an oversized box.  This can happen with both sealed and ported boxes, but its usually seen more in ported boxes.  Just what constitutes "oversized" depends on the particular sub.  The general idea with using a small ported box is you get the low frequency boost (vs a sealed box), but still keep group delay low and the frequency response fairly flat.  Tuning low helps as well.
