You set the amps input gains to match that maximum non distorted output from the deck (and anything in the chain of equipment before the amp). Your overlaps will be personal preference of course. That has ALWAYS been the purpose of a gain...to be matched to your source. Some people are hard headed but really it's just that simple to do it right.
