Crazy 8s Drums Posted June 4, 2018 Report Posted June 4, 2018 ..and there is little to nothing in hardware stores that is worthy of putting in your car....save for maybe fasteners, MDF and other hardware. I have seen some use concrete, but that is one hell of a commitment... Orion XTR amplifiers Skar subs

ncc74656 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Report Posted June 4, 2018 thats pretty close to what i have in my floor right now, i bought the cascade audio matt for the floor but i havnt bought anything for doors and such yet. that liner is very heavy, is it generally used in doors on vertical surfaces? if so what do you do to secure it? weld studs on and bolt/strap it in place? while we are on teh topic, i sprayed deadener on the entire truck (6 coats) and i noticed after the 2nd coat on small areas it would stop resonance and 3 layers on the larger areas BUT the spray on - while it stops the reverb - is still a rather high pitched (tin style) sound where as when you put dynamat or even mesa mat on it the frequency generated by hitting the panel is considerably lower in frequency. will the lower frequency help things or is stopping the resonance all thats needed on the base damping layer before moving on to the absorption? nothing, gutted
ncc74656 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Report Posted June 4, 2018 also, dynamat has a "dynaliner" but in its description it states heat purposes and says nothing about blocking or absorbing sound, its obviously not MLV but is it in any way intended to keep noise from penetrating? nothing, gutted
Mack187Murder Posted June 6, 2018 Report Posted June 6, 2018 I put a 50 square feet of second skin sound damplifier pro in 4 doors of my denali. The inside. Then I sealed them off with second skin as well. (This shits only a couple.mills.thick. Then I put 50 square feet of dynamat extreme on the floor of my truck cab..and the back walls..and the odd chunk going up each pillar. Before voltage and current loss and all that bullshit im 5500 watt RMS on paper. I don't have one panel. One door handle. Or one seatbelt that vibrates. When I have all my doors closed and I'm standing outside it's silent.as in zero rattles. Or shakes. dont get caught up in all the marketing bullshit but definitely I suggest second skin or dynamat. Whatevers on sale.at.the time. .
Mack187Murder Posted June 6, 2018 Report Posted June 6, 2018 By the way. My.midbass is stupid good with my.doors sealed. I sealed them the poor man's way. On the front doors I actually bolted sheet metal with self.tapping screws to cover the large holes. Then sound dampening over the sheet.metalm.which was a waste of time. Just used sound deadener over the long open spans on the rear doors and worked just as good. Still solid as.fuck .
ncc74656 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Report Posted June 6, 2018 i did 100% coverage with spray on front to rear, top to bottom, then i laid down a lead seperated damping/absorption material from windshield to under seats for the drive line tunnle. then i ran two layers of MLV from windshield to under rear window, full length. then i placed the factory sound blocking matt back in behind the dash, modded quite a bit to get teh dash to fit back in, then laid the carpet back down. total of about 2.25" of damping material. i now want to get peel and stick to put on my ceiling, rear wall, and doors. then i want something... maybe foam, maybe MLV to cover the ceiling and doors to block noise. i think im going to use HDPE plastics to seal the doors off nothing, gutted
