Hunter Bohanan
Damn that's cheap. I'm just worried about building the box and not being able to interchange woofers since each box from Bassahaulics is built per sub specs. And I figure the X and U have different specs for each. I was thinking about Red Top for a decent starter style battery and maybe a D3100 or D3400. I've never ran multiple batteries so I'm unsure on how difficult or how easy it can be. I think the 140 can hold me over for a little if I take it easy on the music, which I have the self discipline to do so. Along with a Big 3 upgrade. Last setup was a Red Top, stock 99-06 truck alt powering a m3b and a 9512.. Voltage dropped sometimes down to 11.9 but held in the 12's most of the time and as high as 13's at random times. Hellbilly429
If you want to go Optima, get the Yellow Tops (CCA's not as important as Ah's). You want to be around 13's (if possible) to get the most out of any amplifier. Watts = Volts X Amps. In a low voltage system (i.e. car electrical systems) voltage dropping is more concerning than in a higher voltage system (i.e. home audio) as it has a much bigger effect on the amplifier's ability to output wattage. As for boxes, the X 12's can work in a 2 cubic foot box, it is just more optimal to run in a 2.5 cubic foot box as the suspension is designed to handle the extra air space, and more airspace makes for easier low end extension. Given that you are planning on throwing over the rated RMS at the sub, it would do just fine in a 2 cubic foot box, and would help protect it from over excursion given the extra power. Dark green is the X in a 2 cubic foot box, light green the U series in a 2 cubic foot box, both with 2,000 watts applied and 32 hz tuning. Reach out to JP at Down4Sound and he will give you opinions on both subs, prices on their custom subwoofer boxes (they build sick looking boxes!), and sell you the sub you decide to go with. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
Hunter Bohanan
He's exactly who I plan to use for purchasing my sub. I'm hoping to run something like D2700 or Kinetic big enough for only needing 1 battery and eventually a bigger alt. I figured with a SAE-2000d, 300X4 amp most likely Arc Audio, and other electricals something like D2700 and a big 3 kit should hold me over. Hunter Bohanan
Update: Picking up a d3100 on Monday for $200! Sounds like a win to me. As much as I would love to pickup the sub now, it seems more logical to get my electrical setup first.
Hellbilly429
Nice! I like ordering the sub first, so I can stare at, hold it, tuck it in at night, whisper sweet nothings to it.... I find having the sub first forces me to commit to a sub rather than continuing to research options and change my mind over and over, and seeing it daily gives me drive to get the rest of the stuff ordered and get that shit installed. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log

Hellbilly429
Yeah, buy the sub so you stop changing your mind like a woman trying to decide what she wants for dinner, lol. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
