luckyishere
I will be installing 2 Sundown audio Team 15s Ferrite motor version in a ported box in the back of my Suv and wanted to get some suggestions regarding mounting. Due to space constraints i cannot get more than 2" Baffle installed so i am planning to install a Steel/Iron mounting rings to the inside of the baffle and then install the subs using some Allen bolts. However i could not figure how to install the Ring properly so that it aligns with the subwoofer mounting holes. Any help would be appreciated. Any other ideas to make the install sturdy is also welcomed as every single subs is approx 140-145 Lbs and its a lot of weight and i dont think 2" MDF baffle would not be able to handle it with Wooden screws. CrackFactory
I mounted a DC Audio Level 6 18" with just wood screws into a 2.25" baffle and it's been holding up for a couple weeks now. I think if you want to be extra safe nuts and bolts could replace the wood screws.
Triticum Agricolam
It may be a bit late for this, but if you want screws to hold, don't use MDF. Plywood will hold screws SOOOO much better than MDF does. You would probably only need a single layer of good plywood (7+ plies, true baltic birch would be best). Then you could use MDF for everything else if you desired.
