Sundown X15 Enclosure Help?

So, I like to say I know plenty about car audio, but I'm getting ready to do my first serious build in the next week or so (super excited).

Going to be running a single X15 on 2000Wrms in the back seat of my 2005 Silverado fitting on the majority side of the folded back seat.  I can fit somewhere a little shy of 36" x 28" x 20" (Going to have to clear the slightly more narrow opening width wise... can probably clear up most concerns by tilting diagonal or sideways to get it in).

I hate being the guy to come in here and ask for help building an enclosure, but this is one area I always tend to get confused about.  So many little factors to take into account and I'd like a little bit of help.  I had a box design drawn up for me that would have been about 16.5" x 33" x 20" tuned around 33Hz, but decided I should probably be firing the sub upwards and maybe tuned just a little bit lower.  Wasted a little bit of money paying someone to do that lmao.

So, I need some help figuring out some enclosure plans for this sub and port to fire upwards so that I can maximize the space I have with the subwoofer and box... Don't want it firing into the back wall of my truck and wasting that airspace that could be utilized horizontally.  Am I thinking about this in the right way?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank y'all.

Nice sub you got there bro 😃

My only suggestion is to maybe up your port area to a minimum of around 57 ft^3 if space is a huge factor. If it isn't, i'd even recommend going the 68 ft^3 that Sundown suggests for this woofer, especially since you're doing around 500w over the rated power. Otherwise, you're on the right track as far as i can see.

What did you use to determine your current port area?

Gotta be honest, this talk of cubic feet and similar confuses tf out of me hahahaha.  Only thing I really did was throw some numbers into Torres that looked like they would fit fine and then got the tuning back down around 33Hz.  I honestly have very little idea of what I'm doing.

What available space do you have to work with? Very familiar with these subs and can design a very nice enclosure.

Maximum dimensions I'm going to want to be going is 36" W x 28" H x 20" D.  It's going to be going on 2 of the folded back seats of an 05 Silverado (60/40 split) and will need to have the port and sub both firing upward to account for airspace in front of the woofer.

I know I can fit up to and even over Sundown recommended specifications for net volume back there, I just get really confused when it comes to things like designing a port... lol... what can I say, I'm a noobie.

Any help you can offer me I will more than greatly appreciate...  I've been saving for this new setup forever and have wanted a similar setup since I was like 14, and now that I have everything except a box, my impatience is getting to me 😂.  Thank you.

35Wx19.75Hx20D 1" birch or MDF ( won't need much bracing at all)

Port 17Hx4Wx30L

Very top baffle is .75 material for flush mount cut to the outside diameter of the driver. Everything else is 1" material except 45° pieces on the inside corners can be .75 as well.

.24 driver displacement. 1" port thicknesses.

4.33ft³@33hz ( if you want a lower tuning go 3.75" port width for a 31.86hz tuning but add a decent sz brace or slightly bigger 45's to get the enclosure down to 4.25ft³ or it will be about 4.38ft ( perfectly fine) sub up port up.

This.

4.25 ft and 68-70 in of port area but I'd personally I like it tuned a bit lower, around 30hz

If he wants lower I can adjust it for him. You like them low lows!! I've done a couple at 30hz. Windy as a MF! The lows were incredible.
