Tatersalad Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 I'm sure this might be a little odd of a question.. but I'm looking to build a sub box in the back of a schoolbus that I'm turning into an rv. I have a very large area under the queen bed in the back to use as a box. I would like the l7 for sure but I also have the 12's laying around. Not sure if they would be worth putting in but that's why I'm reaching out to the pros. Any and all advice is welcome!
BYTizzle Posted August 14, 2019 Report Posted August 14, 2019 Not making a joke here even though I realize it sounds like one but full size school bus or a short bus?

SnowDrifter Posted August 25, 2019 Report Posted August 25, 2019 Please oh please make a build log. This sounds like a wicked fun project As far as your question, the size of the vehicle might make things.... Interesting. Put it in the back and listening while driving might be difficult due to distance and other objects like doors in the way. Put it in the front and you could incur echoes and standing wave cancellations. Same goes for a central placement. If you have the space to float it, I'd roll with the 2 15s. More cone area is always welcome. They're not going to be high power high excursion drivers that you can slam 20hz to all day. Corners being the weak spot. But if you're just looking for a little bump on the road and something to watch movies on, they'll suit your needs fine. Gut feeling with the amount of airspace that vehicle has is you'd want to venture closer to a home theater styled box. Large air space and tuned low. Not sure how effective it would be to rely on cabin gain here to give you a nice low end extension given the size of the vehicle. @Triticum Agricolam this might be up your alley ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
BYTizzle Posted August 26, 2019 Report Posted August 26, 2019 Are you going to leave the school bus windows in it? I haven't been in a bus in quite a few years but I dont remember them being the most solid pieces. They may rattle like crazy!
