SuzukiGS750EZ
Oh. And my head unit powered speakers start to sound junky at 32/40 on the hu. They're aftermarket powerbass. I'll amp them in the near future.
Mike4068
That hu has a setting called sub level. Put that at max. What it does is controls the pre out voltage of the sub channel. So if it isn't set to max and you have the hu at full volume you won't be using the full pre out voltage of the hu. - 5 will be safer but you may find that it isn't loud enough at less than full volume. You'll have to test it and see what you think.
Mike4068
I had a Kenwood that only put out a clean signal at 27.
SuzukiGS750EZ
So should I try 7.5? I'm just afraid of clipping. If I'm driving I don't want to constantly be waiting for it to let out the smoke lol. I just want to get max output SAFELY. I listen via android auto and Amazon music, pandora, e.t.c. SuzukiGS750EZ
By clean signal do you mean where the HU clipped or where your speakers started breaking up? And you test clean signal on RCAs, correct? Not at amp.
Mike4068
Where the hu clipped. You can test at either point, I test the rca's. Since every song is recorded at different levels it's impossible to get the most out of your amp without the possibility of clipping some songs. If you plan on playing full tilt you really need to monitor your output. - 5 will be the safest option if you have no way to monitor your system. If you use - 7.5 and start to smell the coils note where your volume is and do not go that high.
SuzukiGS750EZ
And you play the 40hz -5 to find it the clipping point of rcas? Awesome. Hopefully I'll see a difference from my 50hz 0db DMM guess work at 25/40 lol
Mike4068
No, reread what I said. 0db is for hu. - 5 is for the amp you measure that at the amps speaker outputs
