ptcary
Ok, got a little more done today. I need to to sand the bottom some more and repaint and will need a new window switch panel without the rosewood on it. The cardboard did get resin on both sides and one layer of matte on the backside. The Chevy dash kit sits about 4mm to deep in the dash to be flush with the dash face, so I plan to add some washers to it to bring it flush. Looks pretty good to me so far, and I am very happy that I already had the Eclipse Ipod and Sirius units from my other head unit, they work perfect with this one and so does the wireless remote. ...and to top off a nice weekend, I scored a factory Mopar ground effects kit on ebay to add to the PT! ptcary
looking good cary!! whats next? Thanks, how is the Mercedes coming along? I have not seen a build log yet. The new front door panels are next, 8" 6" and two 1" tweets (all Selenium), then the rear top half of the wall facing backward in the hatch will get a LCD monitor and two fiberglass pods with the extra MbQuart 5 1/4 components on each side. I still need to add some wiring to the head unit for the rear camera and the playstation, too. Longterm? Custom two tone paint and some new rims. ptcary
Small update for the PT followers here! So this all started a few months back when I started having troubles with one side of my 4 channel amp that was running all my mids and highs. I had the spare 2 channel amps so they went in while I searched for replacements. Found the 2 Eclipse 60x4 amps on sale and picked them up. In the mean time I had been watching Steve build his doors for the Tahoe and as usual, I wanted to upgrade the doors in the PT again....thanks again Steve...all your fault! So I decided on a passive 3-way setup with Selenium 8", 6.5" and 1" tweets, all run off an Audiopipe 3-way passive crossover. I bought a second set of factory door panels on the advice of a friend who is also fiberglassing his front doors in his PT. Well all the Selenium speakers arrived and the new panels arrived and I have made absolutely no progress on the doors at all! I'll post up pics when I decide how I want them to look. So with a week off work, (I was past due for a break). I started ordering up all the wiring to work on the 2 new Eclipse amps, and got the bug to move the AQ amp and the batteries, too. Might as well clean up the install while I'm at it anyway. So here is some progress. UPS guy should be here today with another batch of wiring and new RCAs. I hope to be finished by the end of this weekend. Started by pulling everything out of the rear foot wells. Found some Kinetik battery holders and moved the batteries: Next came mounting the sub amp, damn thing does weigh a lot, too!: Made some trim panels for some LED lighted fans: Then all the wiring one by one: Ran 4 gauge over to the passenger side for the 2 amps there and the Omnifi, Remote control box for lights and fans. More wiring for two 4 channel amps: Came across some twisted 8 gauge sub wire, so in it went: Since I have to pull the headunit to run the new RCAs, I picked up an Eclipse Bluetooth on sale at Sonic: The front pillar pods needed an update too, they got new carpet and some molex connectors so they can be pulled out easier from now on, same speakers: Another grab bar and a LED light housing that will be controlled via remote, and the monitor that used to be up on the windshield found a new home out back, it will be joined by the extra set of Mb Quart component set on each side in fiberglass pods. That's it for now, some more this weekend when I get more done. Thanks for stopping by. Dr. Johnson
How do you plan to hook up the BT? Are you running an external relay? That specific unit will not work through an all amplifier system. You have to modify it to work through your amps. I am in the process of putting one in as well that's why I am asking. If you want to know how I am doing it just let me know I can send you some links. Looks good with everything else
