Big alternator + lithium ???

Recommended Posts

So whenever I can get back to work, first on my list is a nice, strong 300+ amp alternator.

Then, I'll be upgrading to 1 or 3 nice, beefy AGM Batts.

Of course I'd love to run Lithium, if not for the cost. But I see that the Lithiums all list a maximum charging amperage, and it's pretty darn low 😕

I mean, to buy one good Lithium battery would be plenty expensive enough..... But if I had to buy 3 or 4 of them.... Or a HUGE one, just to handle a 300+ alternator, that would be completely out of the question.

What's the deal on the max charge rating for Lithiums ? How does that work ???

Its the maximum safe input they can take. Add more of them to increase it, generally the bigger the bank the higher the max charge rating. Thats why the limitless lithium 15 ah only have about 100a of charging available but the 45 ah has 300a

TY Josh. I'm sorry I missed this. But yea, so see... Not even the 45 amp hour lithium can handle a 300+ amp alternator... Which was the alternator I wanted to get.

Think I'm just going to go with as many big AGM's as I need, for now.
