Dragonsyph
Trying to get my brother an amp but he had a good question, does he really need a salt 4 amp that puts out around 5-6000 watts for 1200 or can he just get the sfb 8000 for 650 dollars? Hes finna be running a single 18 like me at 1 ohm, so does he really need a salt 4 for double the price that puts out less wattage? What is the benefit of the salt series vs sfb series? ♦ Sundown NSV4 18" + Sundown SALT-4 Baby ♦ MechMan Elite 370a + XS3100 - XP3000 ♦ SHCA 1/0 OFC(blue) + SMD Fuse Holders(blue) ♦ Pioneer AVH-2440NEX + SHCA Pro RCA
Backwoods
Salt amps can handle under 1 ohm loads, they are designed to put out more power at less voltage... But they don't like high voltage and can fail if voltage is to high. SFB amps are full bridge and should never be played under 1ohm. They put out rated, or more than rated, at 14.4 volts plus and will do less than rated at 12-13 volts. The SFB should be perfectly fine for him running one 18 at 1ohm.
