About giving it the full 4000 RMS: I think it is safe to give it its full power, but beware: bandpass boxes usually "mask" the stress of the sub and minimizes distortion, so it's diff. to tell when your sub is under stress. That happened to me once when I overpowered two 10" subs in a bandbass. I never heard distortion or anything. But the coils roasted. So be careful.
