A quarter an octave below tuning is what the guesstimate would be on how low that enclosure would play. So that’s 24.75hz. I would set that subsonic at 25hz. When it comes to frequency, an octave is the equivalent to that frequency.

33hz/2=16.5hz (half an octave)

16.50hz/2=8.25hz (quarter an octave)

Note, there are exceptions where the subsonic filter needs to be set higher. Let’s say, after impedance rise, your subwoofer is seeing rated or exceeding rated and the enclosure is a certain percentage bigger than recommended. Calculating these factors if said factors are present are imperative. Because you then want to use the subsonic filter to protect your subwoofers soft parts from being damaged from over excursions and bottoming out. Thus you have to tune it higher depending on the rms increase and the net volume increase. That’s why when these factors are presented, some just tune the enclosure lower to compensate for the net volume increase in unison with the rms.
