DaveTX
Wanting suggestion on a sub for a Jeep CJ7 build. SQ is important. So this is a summer only toy. No top. Don't have a head unit yet. I will be installing a high amperage alternator. My fronts will be Focal 6.5"/1" components. My rear fills are Focal 5.25" coax, but very likely will be upgrading those to Focal 6.5"/1" components as well. The amp for my fronts/rears is the JL Audio HD900/5. I will not be using the mono subwoofer output of this amp. This is equipment I pulled out a car I just sold. So looking for suggestion on a rear sub. I have 55" of width to work with. I'm thinking two 12's. I was looking at the Alpine Type R 12" subs and Kicker KXA1200.1 or 2400.l amp. What's your thoughts when sound quality is important? But, this is an open air vehicle so you can only get so much SQ with the wind. I want SPL as well. On the price of the subs, I am also taking into account I could get caught in a rain storm someday and ruin these subs. So am not looking to pay a grand a piece for subs.
