BIgeSva Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I am about to rip out my AVIC Z2. Have engine noise eminating through the deck. I have done everything to try to fix this piece of shit. Ended up blowing the bullshit ground fuse, pulling the connectors while it was on. Pulled it apart and soldered in a replacement. Got back to my initial buzz. I have: batt power and ground; rcas at least 18 inches from all power cables; ant noise filter(have a amplified window ant.); have grounded the - side of rca shield to case. Bought new rcas. I have been reading online for weeks about people's problems with Pioneer. I read about Meade's problem with his. Waking up early, staying up late, fucking with this and that. Seems to me the only way to "fix" it is to get rid of it......I have always used Alpine, but I think their nav solution is crap. I am currently looking at the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120.

Known issue with Pioneer head units. Look at getting an Eclipse.

I have seen this many places. AVIC411.com has some info. I was able to download the factory service manual so I could fix the PCB inside.
BIgeSva Posted May 24, 2008 Author Report Posted May 24, 2008 I thought I had performed enough research before my purchase. I like the built in hard drive, and NAV Traffic. I am conviced though now, after a month, that this thing is a POS. Nav maps way out of date, Bluetooth functionality that is half ass: some phones work, not my MOGUL. I did know about this before I bought. My RAZR works fine. It pisses me off because now I have to rip out: deck, SAT radio, Ipod adapter, Bluetooth adapter, backup cam, mic. Now I know why high end cars have a fiber optic can bus for audio. Let me know your positive/negative first hand experiance with your navigation HU.

BIgeSva Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 UPDATE So, once again, I pull out my deck to check to see if I am totally retarded. Everything is just as it has been for 5 weeks. All 6 preouts grounded, just being a little redundant. I read on yet another forum about how some dude used a line out to rca converter to fix his shit. Tried it, didn't work. I leave the radio on, unplug the rca cable from the converter then go back to the preout. NO noise. WTF??? Like I hadn't done that 25 times. Which is how I blew my rca ground fuse (#1201 if you are interested) the first time. I will update again if something changes.
