6 speaker system build suggestions and help

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

After buying components and subs on my own and not liking how anything is turning out, I'm asking for some help.

I have a single-cab truck.

Driver and passenger doors are 6.5.

The B pillars on the driver and passenger side are 4x6. I believe I can cut these out to 5.25s if needed

I have a center console that holds 2x 5.25 and 2 tweeters.

I'm looking for some decent suggestions besides the typical off-the-shelf Kicker, Kenwood, and Skar speakers.

I'm looking at about 700-800$ budget for the speakers. A little less or a little more won't kill me.

Please share how many amps you would go with and how you would wire everything in.

Thanks,

i run active 3 way with SHCA 6.5s ( 2 per door) a 3.5" SHCA, and a 3.5" ds18 tw120pro in each door.  overkill yes but custom speaker pods makes plenty pods for many vehicles, may be an option to beef up the doors vs b pillars speakers. my personal favorites are the pioneer pro 6.5's, take plenty power and can play down to 70hz vs most of the pro audio 6.5s that cant usually play lower than 120hz. the SHCA ones i have now sound good, the 3.5 kinda harsh but have a dsp coming with more EQ than my avh-600ex has so should be able to tone em down some.  this was the pioneers, finally one of them sucked a piece of the cone into the door so took a chance on the SHCA , not too mad about em but shoulda went with more of the pioneer i think.

2009 Silverado 1500, 7.5" lift, 37x12.50r17s, Built Gen 4 5.3L ( 4.8l flat pistons, decked 243s, SS2 Cam, Pac 1218 springs, ported intake, 120mm TB, Long tubes, 3" duals HP tuner software tuned by me), 4l80e swapped and 4.56 gears. All done by me. stereo is Pioneer avh 600ex, all stinger rca, jp23 v1.5, skar rp150.4, and hertz hpd4. 2 SHCA 6.5 8ohm, 1 SHCA 3.5", and 1 DS18 tw120pro in each door. The 3.5 mid and 3.5" tweeters are powered by the skar rp150.4, the 6.5s are powered by the hertz bridged @4 ohms. Dual runs   of 3/0 welding cable, 300a alternator, 2 Vmax AGMs up front. current sub is a AB XR 12 ( dual 2 ohm) with bottom spider cut out in 2.25 cubes at 32hz
