Critisism on box design for 4x 15" WDX15G2.2

Hey all -

 

In the next few weeks I'll be doing a box build with and for my step dad. I know woodworking...but I know almost nothing about car audio boxes. I threw together a design with the dimensions he gave me and I need some seasoned eyes on this to know if I'm going down the correct route or if I need to change anything. The criteria I was given:

 

• 44"L x 36"W x 22"H max dimensions (will be going in the trunk of a H2 Hummer, he wanted it as big as the trunk area will hold)
• Vented, not ported
• Fits 4x WDX15G2.2
• Double thick top panel

 

He started with wanting to do this build out of MDF. Is material choice that important? I would much rather lean towards birch ply or similar. Costs a little more, but I feel like it'll be stronger since it should, in theory, hold glue and screws better. Material thickness will be 3/4" stock either way. Thinking for alignment just rabbet out the sides so it goes together square and there's no messing around with it.

 

I'm I missing something glaringly obvious to someone who's never built a sub box before?

Your figure is missing port dimensions of with and length so I cannot tell you if the design is correct, what is obvious is lack of necessary bracing, As for the wood, any stiff decent quality wood will do, MDF is relatively less expensive and that's why is used more.
