lionfamlee Posted October 18, 2024 Report Posted October 18, 2024 (edited) Hello, several years ago, I built a really nice sub box with the help of forum member Joe X. He created a box for 3 15-M3MOJO12's (12's). That box he created was excellent. Below is the discussion. I am trying to build another box. This time for 4 of these same subs. My only limitation is the width needs to say within 48 to 49 inches in length (2008 Chevy Suburban). MI don't want to spend all of the money on prefab box. Thanks in advance, Michael Edited October 18, 2024 by lionfamlee Quote
Joe X Posted October 19, 2024 Report Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) That was a little while ago! A few reminders: If you are adding a new sub to 3 old ones you need to break in the new one before using all 4 in the same box. You need at least 5 1/4 inches of port clearance to the rear gate for the box to work properly. So here is a suggestion, power: to sub(s) rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 5 1/4", figure is just an assembly guide: Edited October 21, 2024 by Joe X Quote
lionfamlee Posted October 19, 2024 Author Report Posted October 19, 2024 Yes, 12 years ago. The sub is not new and was broken in years ago. Awesome, man! Thanks for the detailed design and info. I really appreciate it. Quote
lionfamlee Posted October 21, 2024 Author Report Posted October 21, 2024 Joe X, is it possible for me to adjust the the box height from 20 inches to 24 inches? What other adjustments would I meed to make. It doesn't look like I can subtract the 4 inch difference from the depth, because there wouldn't be enough surface space to fit 4 subs. My amp and accessories wall is 24 inches high. So that's why I am asking. I plan to mount the wall in front of the box. That way they would both be flush. Quote
Joe X Posted October 21, 2024 Report Posted October 21, 2024 Check out the new cutlist on my last post, height to 24", the baffle being 48x20.5 gives you enough room to place your 4 12" subs. Let us know how it went. Quote

Let us know how it went. Joe X, I meant to update this already. The box build was super nice thanks to you. Those 4 old school Mojo M3 12Ss sound loud and clean. I will be upgrading the subs to th newer Mojo1212, 1500rms. So I will need a new box for them. I am not sure if I can use the same box build design you made for these or a new one. Any recommendations? https://www.memphiscaraudio.com/product/mojo1212/ Thanks again! Quote
Joe X Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 Those new ones will work on a somewhat larger box, you can reverse mount the drivers to gain internal airspace. I would definitely try your current box before building a new one. I don't think you will get substantial gains with a new similar sized box, let us know the result of your tests. Quote
lionfamlee Posted May 6 Author Report Posted May 6 Ok. That makes sense. I read some where the new mojos take around 2.5 cubic ft of air space. So they would need 10...? The box I built only has 8 cubic ft. I'm thinking that the 8 won't starve them of too much space, but I may reverse them like you suggested. In your opinion, the 2 cubic ft make a lot of difference? Just a daily driver where I like to get loud and clean. Thanks again for your time. Quote
