Real high end sound quality subs are allergic to power, brands like morel, focal, dynaudio are some of them.

 

SQL subs are high or intermediate power subs with sound quality characteristics quasi linear motor and suspension and lower inductance some brands are JL AUDIO, Image dynamics, Stereo integrity.

 

The there are high power (into the thousands of watts) low distortion subs like Fi, SSA, ascendant audio, these don't really play flat are made to play loudest while introducing the least amount distortion as possible.
