klaxxi Posted August 28, 2025 Report Posted August 28, 2025 My setup has been sounding weird for a while. the bass is kinda wavy and sounded weird, hard to explain. More excursion than normal and losing control suddenly (unloading?), even bottomed out couple times playing around tuning frequency (around 31sh). Box is around 200 litres,Short 8 inch aeroport with some kind of big homemade flares i got from a friend.2x15 b2 hnv15v3 and soundigital 8000. Today i took the old port out and replaced it with 6 inch aeroport but it still sounds like shit. I noticed while replacing the aeroport that the box was leaking a bit so i sealed the box from the inside, quessing that would be the cause for unloading? or could it have been the 8 inch port, port didnt go past the subs so the subs were pretty much firing straight in to the port. Sorry for my bad english not my first language
EricM9104 Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Single 6" port is way too small for 7 cubes. How short is the 8, don't know your flare sizes but for a 31hz tuning you want the port length to be 15.1", shorten for flare sizes obviously.. Subs could've just broken in, but maybe to much now, is your subsonic filter set properly? 2015 Honda Civic LX 4dr | 110k miles | Stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4dr 4wd | 260k miles | JVC Head-unit

EricM9104 Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Try setting it to 24hz, SSf ideally is set half octave lower than box tune. 2015 Honda Civic LX 4dr | 110k miles | Stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4dr 4wd | 260k miles | JVC Head-unit
klaxxi Posted August 31, 2025 Author Report Posted August 31, 2025 Also which way should i face port and subs? i have wagon car, its port towards trunk and subs up currently.
EricM9104 Posted August 31, 2025 Report Posted August 31, 2025 Sub up/port back is fine for wagon, could do sub/port back as well. Depending on how close the box/port is too the back, if it's close enough I want to say that could also act as a port, lengthening it weirdly, but don't quote me on that aspect. Someone else may be able to chime in and clear that up 2015 Honda Civic LX 4dr | 110k miles | Stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4dr 4wd | 260k miles | JVC Head-unit
