Got it installed. ..shit SLAPS louder for sure. and i ge ZERO voltage drop (did big 3 in 1/0 today)

it chills at 14.4 or 14.5, and goes down to 14.1 at the lowest (usually nothing) it is legit ....

ProbleM:

My sub after about 5 min of HARD playing gets stinky a little bit and is hot (the dustcap) to the touch. my gains are at 1/3

what should i do? is it clipping?

i'll et pics and a vid for suret his weekend

Thats wierd gets stinky... In your vid doesn't even seem like its flexin that much... Does it flex pretty good and the vid just doesn't pick it up or is the vid pretty accurate? Also my opinion on the volt meter is hook it up to the straight to the battery.. And if you using a back battery(which i dont see in your sig but..) wire your volt meter to the back battery so you always know what voltage your amp is recieving..

any time you give a woofer more than rated power, you run the chance of running into problems. the box is right inline for rms of the woofer per Rusty.

5 mins at full tilt or near full tilt, with more than rms, you can and will get a lil smelly, just ease off the volume a lil bit and you will be fine, no system can run full tilt or near full tilt continously.

1/3, 1/2, 7/8 gain level doesnt matter as long as it was set to your rca's output.

Thats pretty fast 5min. Usually even if its slightly over its rms it can play longer than 5min without getting hot/stink.

the sub is only rated at 1kw and he is giving it 1500 in a box designed for lows and 1kw, doesnt sirprise me at all that it gets stinky.

good news. just making sure i wasn't clipping it too bad ... i turned the gain to in between 1/4 and 1/3 now

not as loud, but it doesn't get AS stinky AS fast :)

i'ma go take pics, brb

the lvl 4 can take more power if it has the level 5 coils, idk if he did this didnt c if he did or not but with level 5 coils it should be able to take 1.5kwrms clean power.
