Xplorer Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 well you can either take the one back and try another like i did, or buy the other harness, or run your own speaker wires and just unhook the factory amp. Or bypass the factory amp. On my Explorer (It's a 96 XLT, but they're basically the same vehicle), when I wired my Pioneer into it, I had an extra wire on my adapter that plugged into the factory wiring, it was the turn-on lead for the factory amp. Just wire it into a ignition hot lead. Then down the road when I installed my amp, my dad ended up making a bypass for the factory amp for me. Just find the connectors that go into the factory amp for the pre-amp and post-amp side, wire them together and plug them into the wiring for the car. Also, please don't ask where we got the wiring to do the amp bypass. My dad works for Ford, and he got it from somewhere Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jmsonoma03 Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 there are three differrent harnesses for them fords you just got the wrong one if you are just addind a deck and dont care about sound quality get the right plug and wire it up if you want it to sound right i would bypass the factory amp just run four speaker wires to the amp and tag onto the outputs. the amp should be in the rear passenger 1/4 panel.
